This is the Red Bull X2014 Fan Car Model Car in 1:18 Scale by AUTOart.
1:18 Red Bull X2014 Concept Fan Car
What if one of the worlds most accomplished racing car designers was suddenly freed from all regulation to build the best machine he could dream of, the universes ultimate racing car and the fastest thing on four wheels? Thats the concept behind the Red Bull X2014, which follows 2010s X1 concept as Red Bull chief designer Adrian Newey latest fantasy creation. The architect behind Sebastian Vettels incredible four-in-a-row Formula One world championships, Newey penned both concepts in collaboration with Polyphony Digital, the creators of the Gran Turismo 6 virtual driving simulator. Besides being brilliant, Newey is also the very last F1 designer who still draws his multi-championship-winning cars on paper rather than in CAD. The Red Bull X2014 is intended to shatter records, and its able to go around the Nurburgring Nordschleife in under 3 minutes and 40 secondsat least, in Gran Turismo 6.
The "Gran Turismo Red Bull X2014 Fan Car" is the ultimate X2014, powered by a 3.0-liter V-6 turbo producing 1183 BHP. The fan in Fan Car refers to the massive fan at the rear end - a dream for Newey which draws out air from under the cars floor to generate an extremely powerful downforce, sucking the car to the ground regardless of the vehicle's current speed. Since the X2014 relies on this downforce for cornering, the body aerodynamics can be more streamlined, reducing the downforce needed from Venturi effects. The width of the racing tires can also be reduced. As a result, the car generates significantly less drag on straightaways, raising its top speed up to 300mph (480km/h), while still adhering firmly in the corners. And, unlike a modern F1 car, which must be going a high rate of speed before its aerodynamics kick in, the X2014s stability is unaffected by the speed of the car.
In recognition of its record of producing exquisitely detailed replicas, including the X2010 two years ago, AUTOart was once again invited to render this concept racecar in a 1:18th scale model. The X2014 car is slightly longer than the X2010, with a more complicated design to its body and wings for better aerodynamic control. The model is produced under AUTOarts Diecast Composite series, in which the upper body is made of composite plastic and is married to a diecast metal underchassis for rigidity.
The body shape, with its many sharp edges and multiple vents and slots, is finely replicated using composite plastic to a level of exactness that could never be achieved with diecast zinc. The canopy opens on intricate metal hinges, while details of the rear fan and wings are replicated precisely. The carbon-fiber pattern on the body, wings, and arms is created using tampon pad printing. The ground-effect underchassis with its two large air-suction holes is another example of the exhaustive detail on this model.
The Red Bull livery, with its colorful sweep of stripes over a curvy body that is cut through with many ribs and slots, is even more difficult when the alignment of the long ribbons of multiple-color striping is factored in. Here, tampon pad printing is combined with wet-transfer decals to achieve a perfectly seamless result. The X2014 model is a spectacular what-if? concept from one of the most creative minds in motorsport today. As such, it belongs in any racing model collection.
Andrian Newey discusses the X2014 project with Kazunori Yamauchi, the CEO of Polyphony Digital and producer of the Gran Turismo series, using the 1/18 X2010 model car as reference.
