The Matra Simca MS670B, equipped with a 3.0L V12 engine and entered by Equipe Matra-Simca Shell, clinched victory at the 1972 24 Hours of Le Mans with drivers Henri Pescarolo and Graham Hill. Pescarolo, a French endurance racing specialist, and Hill, a British racing legend and the only driver to achieve the Triple Crown of Motorsport, delivered an outstanding performance. This race was unique as it marked Graham Hill's completion of the Triple Crown, having already won the Monaco Grand Prix and the Indianapolis 500. The 1972 victory also highlighted the exceptional engineering of the Matra Simca MS670B and solidified Matra-Simca's status in endurance racing.
