The Maserati 450 S No. 2 competed in the 1957 Le Mans 24 Hours, driven by Jean Behra and André Simon. The car was a powerful contender, equipped with a 4.5-liter V8 engine, and represented Maserati’s attempt to secure a victory at Le Mans. Despite high hopes, the 450 S suffered mechanical issues and did not finish the race. The 1957 Le Mans was notable for its intense competition between Maserati, Ferrari, and Jaguar, with Jaguar ultimately taking the win. This race also marked Maserati’s final major attempt at Le Mans in the 1950s, as the brand soon shifted focus away from endurance racing.
