The 1961 Ferrari F1 156 “Sharknose” in Red is one of the most iconic Formula 1 cars ever built, created by engineer Carlo Chiti for the new 1.5-liter regulations. Its naturally aspirated 1,476 cc 120-degree V6 produced about 190 hp at 9,500 rpm, while the rear-mid-engine layout and low center of gravity helped give Ferrari a major performance advantage. Its most recognizable feature was the pointed nose with twin angled air intakes, which earned it the unforgettable “Sharknose” nickname. The 156 won five of the eight Grands Prix in 1961 and carried American driver Phil Hill to the 1961 World Championship, making the red Sharknose an especially important piece of Ferrari and Formula 1 history.
